1. INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Calculator Star (the “App”), developed and operated by Kevin Ho (“Developer”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your information.
CRITICAL NOTICE: AGE RESTRICTION. The App utilizes third-party artificial intelligence technologies (Google Gemini) which are contractually restricted to users aged 18 and older. This App is intended solely for General Audiences aged 18+. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18. If you are under 18, you are prohibited from using the App.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We prioritize data minimization but require specific data to function.
A. Voice and Audio Data
We access your microphone to capture verbal queries. This data is processed to convert speech to text. Disclosure: To ensure accuracy, this processing may occur on Apple Inc.’s servers. We do not permanently store raw audio logs on our own servers.
B. Math Queries (User Content)
The text of your math questions (“Queries”) is collected and transmitted to our AI processor.
C. Technical Data
We collect device model, iOS version, and IP address for security and abuse monitoring.
D. Future Account Data
We reserve the right to introduce user accounts. If implemented, we will collect your email and username.
3. THIRD-PARTY DATA SHARING
We do not sell your data. However, the App functions as an interface for third-party processors. By using the App, you explicitly consent to the transfer of your data to:
Google LLC (Gemini API): Your Math Queries are sent to Google to generate answers. You acknowledge that Google retains this data for up to 55 days for abuse monitoring and may use it to train their AI models. You agree that your Queries are subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Generative AI Terms.
Apple Inc.: Audio data is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
4. PUBLIC SHARING AND FUTURE FEATURES
We reserve the right to introduce features that allow you to share your Queries publicly. If you utilize these features, you acknowledge that your Queries will become public information. You grant us a license to display this content (see Terms of Service).
5. AI TRAINING DATA & ANALYTICS
A. AI Training Data
If you explicitly opt-in via App Settings, we collect anonymous usage logs and math queries to help train and improve our artificial intelligence models. This data is stripped of personally identifiable information (PII) before upload and is stored securely using Google Firebase. You may revoke this permission at any time in the app settings to stop future data collection.
B. Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand basic usage patterns (e.g., app launches, feature usage). This data is aggregated and anonymized.
6. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our features (e.g., adding advertisements or subscriptions). Continued use constitutes acceptance.
TERMS OF SERVICE
1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By accessing Calculator Star, you agree to these Terms. You represent that you are at least 18 years of age.
2. LICENSE GRANT TO DEVELOPER
You retain ownership of your Queries. However, by submitting Queries, you grant the Developer a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, and display such Queries for any purpose, including future public features and marketing.
3. MODIFICATION OF SERVICE
The App is currently free. We reserve the right to modify this model at any time, including limiting access to features, introducing subscription fees, or displaying third-party advertisements. We are under no obligation to continue providing the Service for free.
4. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES (“AS IS”)
THE APP UTILIZES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (GOOGLE GEMINI). AI OUTPUTS ARE PROBABILISTIC AND MAY BE FACTUALLY INCORRECT. THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. THE DEVELOPER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. YOU MUST NOT RELY ON THE APP FOR PROFESSIONAL, FINANCIAL, ENGINEERING, OR MEDICAL CALCULATIONS.
5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. THE DEVELOPER’S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00).
6. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Developer (Kevin Ho) from any claims arising out of your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
